Visit this page again for updates on this campaign; meet our 2008 Regional Volunteer Ambassadors

The 2008 Regional Volunteer Ambassador Campaign (RVAC) transpired from the comments and suggestions put forth pertaining to the Volunteer-of-the-Year campaigns from previous years. The Volunteer-of-the-Year Awards were created in 2005 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of our essential news and information service as well as to acknowledge the key role played by our 800+ professionally-trained volunteers.

The Volunteer-of-the-Year title has been altered to reflect the changes made to the campaign. The goal of the 2008 campaign is to salute and praise the efforts of all our dedicated volunteers. In this respect, the campaign has the same objective to previous years. A key difference this year is in the wording itself. Instead of winners, we have "ambassadors". Another significant difference is in the structure of the campaign. Regional volunteer representatives will be chosen from different parts of the country, five overall, to serve as ambassadors for those regions at the National Broadcast Reading Service (NBRS) Staff Conference. Unfortunately, since we are unable to bring all volunteers from all offices to the Staff Conference, we will invite the one nominated ambassador from each region.

Regional selection committees will be formed to select the regional representative. The selection committees will consist of 3-6 individuals: 2-4 volunteers from regional offices' liaison committees (the number will depend on the number of offices in the designated region), 1 (or more, if desired) representative of a community organization with close ties to VoicePrint, and where possible, an NBRS Director.

Volunteers will nominate persons to be considered for regional representative at the Staff Conference in mid-September (September 18-20). The nominator will be asked to outline in 100 words or less why s/he believes the nominee should be selected as the regional representative.

Note: staff may also nominate persons to be considered for regional representative to aid the process.

A regional representative will be selected from five regions: Pacific, Prairie/Mountain, Central, Atlantic and the Greater Toronto Area.
