In conjunction with National Access Awareness Week
June 1 - June 7, our St. Catharines volunteer readers will receive an award as
part of the Ontario March of Dimes' Breaking the Barrier Awards.
The award (which is being
given to all of our St.Catharines volunteers):
"The
Volunteer Excellence Award", awarded to an exceptional volunteer who facilitates
the integration or accessibility of persons with disabilities. (For more information on this award, please

The ceremony takes place at 11 a.m. on June 5 at Lakeside Park,
St. Catharines.
Breaking the Barrier Awards (and Ceremony) aims to:

Bring Canadians together to ensure the
full participation of people with disabilities in community life."

Recognize contributions made by local citizens and
businesses to integrate persons with disabilities in our community
Attendees may

The award nominees should meet the
following criteria:
- Promote the
integration and/or independence of persons with disabilities in all aspects of
community life through physical accessibility and/or social acceptance
- Not to be given to those whose paid employment role,
or educational requirement is to promote the integration of persons with disabilities
in the community.
