On November 22 VoicePrint took part in End Exclusion 2007, a national event held at Ottawa.

It was an exciting day as hundreds of citizens from across Canada came together to celebrate the accomplishments of persons with disabilities -- and to call on governments and citizens to move toward and inclusive society for all Canadians.

The event featured the unveiling of a National Action Plan, which was endorsed by a multitude of national organizations, including VoicePrint.

Highlights of the day included speeches from a variety of advocates from the disabled community, addresses from federal cabinet ministers and a march to Parliament Hill in inclement conditions, which signified the strength and solidarity of the disabled community.

Though the event has concluded for this year, you can still participate in End Exclusion 2007 by:

  • Listening to the audio version of the National Action Plan
  • Or visiting the End Exclusion website

For more ways to be involved in -- or get information on -- this movement (including audio versions of personal stories currently posted on the End Exclusion website), please go to our UN Day of Disabled Persons special programming webpage.

My husband has a brain injury, and he tunes into VoicePrint at all hours of the day and night. It's a lifeline for him — and an excellent service for many people, particularly those who are unable to see or who can't concentrate very well.
