On Tuesday, July 24 the the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) announced that it had approved NBRS's application for The Accessible Channel. Please check this space for future updates. A recording of our presentation to the CRTC, which took place at its Hearing Room in Gatineau, Quebec, can be accessed on the Special Programming page of this website. The Accessible Channel: News. Entertainment. Inclusion will soon broadcast, among other things, “described” and “closed-captioned” versions of popular, current TV shows and favorite movies. It is a significant advance in the mission of NBRS, a registered charity, to help make media accessible for Canadians with disabilities. For complete details and more information on the application, please see the documents further down this page (in your choice of PDF, text-only or audio formats) or visit the CRTC’s website. The deadline for comments to the CRTC about this application for The Accessible Channel was March 8, 2007. We would like to thank the 900+ supporters who contacted the CRTC in support of this application. View our demonstration videos: (Acrobat Reader is required for PDF documents)
