Listen to our White Cane Week 2008 promo (MP3)
*Special thanks to Mark Dailey of Citytv for lending his voice to our on-air White Cane Week promo!
Did you know there are at least five different varieties of the White Cane, each serving a slightly different need?
And did you know the origins of the White Cane can be traced back to
1921 when James Biggs, a British photographer who lost his sight,
painted his walking stick white so he would be more visible to drivers?
These and other facts and stories about vision loss and the White Cane
can be heard during VoicePrint's observance of White Cane Week 2008.
Starting at 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, February 3,
VoicePrint will bring you a week-long series of special programming and
information related to White Cane Week as part of our ongoing
partnership with The Canadian Council of the Blind (CCB). Our program line-up will include:
-
Special described programming and interviews every evening.
-
Interviews,
articles and information on all VoicePrint and CCB events happening
across the country, e.g. described movie events, blind bowling,
curling, concerts and more.
