VoicePrint’s annual salute to National Access Awareness Week continues with interviews and a CBC Celebrity Reader event
JOIN VOICEPRINT’S TRIBUTE TO NATIONAL ACCESS AWARENESS WEEK :
AIR TIME IS SELLING OUT FAST SO ACT NOW!
National Access Awareness Week (NAAW) is an opportunity for Canadians to promote issues of ability and inclusion to audiences from all walks of life, and VoicePrint is stepping up to the plate.
Barriers to inclusion are as much about attitude as physical structure. While changing a municipal by-law or enforcing the Charter of Rights and Freedoms may technically remove barriers, it is by fostering attitudes of acceptance and responsibility that obstacles are overcome.
With our special programming line-up, VoicePrint aims to recognize the differences between how able-bodied and disabled people access services and information.
When asked why she chose to volunteer with VoicePrint for this special, one reader told us:
“As broadcasters, our voices are part of our talent. It only makes sense that we should use that talent in a way that can help others,” said Diana Swain, host of CBC News at Six in Toronto (pictured left). “I see using my voice to help VoicePrint as a form of civic duty.”
