SUNDAY, April 19th – SATURDAY, April 25th
Did you know that currently fewer Canadians are volunteering? For those that do…why do they do it? One reason: volunteers are looking for opportunities for growth and skill acquisition through volunteer development
Our National Volunteer Week Special programming is brought to you in part by:
Learn more about The Accessible Channel (MP3)
Learn more about TD's accessibility initiatives (MP3)
Listen to the Sudbury Blueberry Festival Promo (MP3)
...AND here's your opportunity to let us know what YOU think about our service and readers (listen to our promo on how you can contact us about our volunteers-MP3)
In recognition of National Volunteer Week, VoicePrint celebrates keeping volunteers passionate, engaged and supported. Over the course of the week we will examine Four Essentials for Volunteer Management; taking a closer look at recruiting, training, recognizing and retaining volunteers. These four essentials are the backbone of what makes a volunteer program successful.
"VoicePrint takes pride in their volunteers and the hard work that they do, “says Stacie Quinn, Outreach Coordinator - Sudbury Region. "And by recognizing what components together make up a successful volunteer program, we celebrate the people who give their time selflessly to VoicePrint and throughout their communities. These talented individuals make the lives of so many others better and make their own communities a better place to live.
Included in our four-part series: A discussion with the Honourable Mayann E. Francis, O.N.S., DHumL, Nova Scotia’s Lieutenant Governor.
“Throughout our province, volunteers give generously of their time and energy,” says Her Honour. “These selfless individuals are not seeking special honours and awards. It is for this reason we must acknowledge and thank them for their tireless efforts in serving their communities. I am delighted that Nova Scotia will once again mark Volunteer Week this April to celebrate these unsung heroes.”
