Labour Day Program Special (Sept. 1): Voiceprint's End-Of-Summer Celebration

This Labour Day (September 1, 2008) from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., VoicePrint is proud to present our annual summer send-off, which includes: 14 hours of original programming for all things autumn and back-to-school. There will also be a revealing interview with Buzz Hargrove (details below) .

At 9 p.m. VoicePrint presents the following described films:

THE HELLBENDERS 1963 - Action

Shortly after the Civil War, a Confederate colonel (Joseph Cotton) and his sons hijack a fortune and head for their hideout through a gauntlet of Union Army patrols, sheriffs' posses, Mexican bandits and vengeful Indians

THE GREEN PROMISE 1949 - Drama

In the 1940s, a widowed farmer and his four children move to a new county, hoping to make a fresh start. Walter Brennan and Natalie Wood star in this heart-warming drama about the strength of one family and the rural community in which they put down roots.  Brennan gives a first-rate performance.

A Revealing Interview With Buzz Hargrove

He's lead the largest private sector union in Canada for 16 years.

He's raised issues and been contentious with politicians of all stripes throughout his career.

He's tough, uncompromising and passionate.

He's Buzz Hargrove.

Tune in to VoicePrint September 1 at 8 p.m. Eastern for a special Labour Day interview with Buzz Hargrove, President of the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW).

Hargrove reflects on his career in the labour movement on the eve of his retirement from the CAW, examining his triumphs and setbacks and shared what he believes unions must do to stay relevant in the 21st-century.

It's a candid conversation with someone for whom candour is second nature.

It is not a visual impairment that prevents me from reading the newspapers, but a geographical problem. We rely on television and Internet for our news. Oh how I miss reading the paper! So I'm thrilled to find I can still 'read' the papers even up here! Thank you so much.
